The Early Life and Education of Ingrid Maldonado
Ingrid Maldonado was born in Machala, Ecuador, into a hardworking family that instilled strong values in her from an early age. She pursued a degree in Business Administration at the University of Machala, but her curiosity drove her to explore beyond her country’s borders. In Mallorca, Spain, she trained as a chiropractor and holistic beauty therapist, all while continuing to acquire multiple certifications in advanced aesthetic treatments and technology.
Key influences in her life were her entrepreneurial parents, who were involved in the business world, and two very special individuals who supported and introduced her to the field of cosmetology. They guided and inspired her to pursue her passion for aesthetics and well-being.

A Leap into the World of Business and Aesthetics
he year 2012 was pivotal for Ingrid when she launched her venture in a three-star hotel in Mallorca. This marked the beginning of a successful career in the aesthetics industry, progressing to another boutique four-star hotel, where she managed for over 20 years.
After 15 years in Spain, Ingrid relocated to Malta, where she saw a unique opportunity to expand her business. She faced challenges such as the language barrier, but her determination led her to establish Soguapa, her own chain of aesthetic centres.
Expansion and Future Vision in Malta
Upon arriving in Malta, Ingrid began her entrepreneurial journey from scratch, opening soGuapa in the garage of her home in Swieqi. From these humble beginnings, her business has only continued to grow. A few years later, she launched soGuapa Nails & Beauty Bar, followed by soGuapa Beauty Centre. In the same year, she opened soGuapa Advance Aesthetic in Sliema, solidifying her presence on the island with four businesses under the soGuapa brand.
soGuapa has distinguished itself as the leading place in Malta for cutting-edge skin care and treatment technology, offering the best treatments and protocols available on the market. This centre has been praised by well-known public figures in the fashion and beauty industry, further strengthening its reputation as a leader in the field.
Ingrid remains committed to innovation, constantly travelling to bring the latest advancements to her centres and creating job opportunities for Latina and European women, reaffirming her position as a pioneer in Malta’s beauty industry.
